About Konfirm
Konfirm is a Shopify app developed by Pacific Softwares that reduces Return-to-Origin (RTO) losses for ecommerce merchants by automatically verifying Cash on Delivery (COD) orders via SMS, Email, and WhatsApp.
How Konfirm works
- A customer places a Cash on Delivery order on a Shopify store.
- Konfirm detects the COD order via the Shopify orders/create webhook.
- Within 15 seconds, Konfirm sends a confirmation message via the merchant's enabled channels: WhatsApp (one-tap buttons), SMS (confirmation link), or Email (confirmation link).
- Smart channel priority tries WhatsApp, Email, or SMS in the merchant's preferred order and falls back automatically if one channel fails.
- The customer confirms or cancels — via WhatsApp button tap, or by opening the link in SMS/email and tapping Confirm or Cancel.
- The Shopify order is tagged cod-confirmed or cod-cancelled in real time.
- If the customer rejects, the order can be automatically cancelled.
WhatsApp COD verification on Konfirm
Konfirm includes built-in WhatsApp confirmations via Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API (WhatsApp Business Platform). No WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) setup is required — Konfirm provides a platform sender. Customers receive the Meta-approved Friendly & Simple Utility template (konfirm_otp) with five body variables — customer name, store name, order number, items summary, and total — plus two interactive URL buttons: "Confirm Order" and "Cancel Order". Message style in Settings applies to SMS and Email only; WhatsApp always uses Friendly & Simple, while language follows Settings → General (each Meta language edition must be Active). One tap completes verification — no OTP typing, because Meta Authentication templates cannot carry order details or custom verification links. Merchants on any plan can connect their own WhatsApp Business phone number and access token to send from their brand. WhatsApp is toggled per store in Settings → WhatsApp and works alongside SMS and Email.
- Built-in WhatsApp sender — zero WABA configuration
- Friendly & Simple Utility template with 5 body variables + Confirm/Cancel buttons
- Multi-language WhatsApp (en, hi, ur, ar, fr, bn, es, th) via Meta template editions
- Meta Cloud API / WhatsApp Business Platform integration
- Bring your own WhatsApp Business account on any plan
- Test WhatsApp send from Settings before going live
- Channel priority: Auto defaults to WhatsApp → SMS → Email, or pin a primary channel

What is Return-to-Origin (RTO) in ecommerce?
Return-to-Origin (RTO) refers to shipments that are returned to the seller because the customer was unavailable, refused delivery, or placed a fraudulent order. RTO is especially high for Cash on Delivery orders worldwide, where customers can place orders without payment commitment. The average RTO rate for unverified COD orders is 35–45%, costing merchants $3–12 per returned shipment in logistics fees.
What is COD order verification?
COD order verification is the process of confirming that a customer who placed a Cash on Delivery order genuinely intends to receive the shipment. Verification methods include phone calls, IVR (Interactive Voice Response) systems, SMS and email confirmation links, and WhatsApp message buttons. Konfirm automates all three digital channels for Shopify merchants — every channel uses one-tap Confirm/Cancel, with WhatsApp typically delivering the highest open rates.
Shopify WhatsApp COD app — why Konfirm?

Unlike generic WhatsApp marketing tools, Konfirm is purpose-built for Cash on Delivery verification with automatic COD detection, channel fallback, and cod-confirmed / cod-cancelled tags.
